One of Mike Grumet’s close friends, whose business revenue he had helped quadruple to $1.2 million through advertising, suffered a stroke. She was out of work for nine months, crippling her business.

Mike Grumet was devastated, but not half as devastated as he’d be two years later when his friend’s informal partner, with whom she had lived with for 18 years, passed away. Since the couple wasn’t married, all of their assets initially went to the man’s parents, leaving Mike Grumet’s friend with nothing.

It was at that moment that Mike Grumet came to the realization that he had to change his life; that being a highly successful advertising and marketing guru wasn’t good enough for him anymore.

Therefore, Mike Grumet Insurance Services was founded based on devoting his life to helping people, to making sure they had enough money to survive, and that they always had someone there for them in times of despair. Mike entered the insurance industry to assure family, friends and others in the community would be well protected in case of sickness, disability or death. He also vowed to become a dedicated and sincere community volunteer.

He has kept his vow.

Mike Grumet has emerged as a community icon in Huntington Beach and in Orange County, lauded by everyone from Congressman Dana Rohrabacher and Assemblyman Tom Harmon to business owners and clients. He has not only built a successful insurance business that has helped secure the lives of hundreds of people, but has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for various community organizations, synagogues, clubs and schools.

He handles everything from group medical and employee benefits to life, health and disability insurance, as well as retirement funding. He also helps families and business owners maximize their assets by coordinating business continuation and estate plans.

In 2002, Mike Grumet was honored with the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce Member of the Year and Ambassador of the Year awards, the first time a person has ever won both awards in the same year in the 100-year history of the chamber.
